This year we are going to do something a bit different in our class. We will be implementing Genius Hour Projects for our students. The idea of Genius Hour originated in project based learning methods and Google’s philosophy of 20% Time for their employees. During Genius Hour Projects, students will be able to explore their interests and passions, and make something tangible to present to the class.
As a teacher, part of my job is to help your child develop academically and improve their critical thinking/problem solving skills. Genius Hour gives our students time to create, evaluate, research, synthesize, and analyze. Because the topic is based on their interests, it comes from their own intrinsic motivations. Genius Hour is not always a smooth path to the end goal, hence hones the skills of perseverance and resilience. Thank you for supporting your student throughout this process. |
